How to Apply for Medicare Online Guide – Get started with Medicare and find out how you can get Medicare, what’s offered, eligibility, and more. Hey guys, Lance here and welcome to today’s Medicare q&a, where we’re going to take a look at how to apply to Medicare. So applying to Medicare, if you’re already or if you already receive Social Security benefits, or railroad retirement benefits, before turning age 65, you’ll automatically be enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, you don’t need to do anything. And you don’t even need to apply online. So you don’t need to do the next steps that I’m going to go through. Otherwise, go ahead and you can follow along with these next steps here. So step one, is you’re going to want to go visit the website, which is social security.gov. And in this Social Security benefit application, you’re going to select Start a new application. Or if you already have started an application, you’re going to return to saved application process. So if you see over here on the right hand side this image, if you go to the website, this is what it should look like. And now I say should, sometimes these things can change if they did an update. So you’ll want to look for something similar. But here’s where you can see, there’s a button here that says start a new application. And you can go ahead and click that button If this is your first time starting this process. If you’ve already started this process, and you need to come back and finish what you started before, then you’re going to want to click this other button, return to saved application process. And then for step two, you’re going to want to fill out the information about you. So this will be things here like your first name, middle name, last name, your social security number, your date of birth, so the month day, year, and then gender, male or female. And then for step three, when you have successfully started your application, you will get a re entry number. So later, you can use this to continue your application later, if you need to take a break and check the status of or if you need to come back and check the status of your completed application. And so that’s this number here re entry number. So you’ll get a number like this as well. And then for step four, you’ll want to go ahead and choose to sign up for either Medicare only, and not receive retirement benefits at this time. So you’ll see this question here. So you have an option to choose that or not to choose that. And then step five, you’ll answer the questions related to your health benefits, such as other health insurance coverage, other group health plan information, other employment information, and dates of coverage information. And so that’s what this picture here is showing you. And then on this deck, Step six, here’s where you finish your application. So you’ll go over a summary of your application for accuracy. you’ll accept the agreement and sign your application by selecting the Submit now button, and then you’ll get a receipt for your application, then you’ll get information on what to do next. So this is what this looks like at this stage. So one of the most important things you can do as a Medicare beneficiary is to upgrade your benefits as often as you can, or at least be reevaluating them as often as you can. So with plans and benefits updating year after year, if you’re not reviewing your coverage regularly, you could be missing out on some important benefits that are offered by the major providers in your state. And this can happen on a yearly basis. So bringing your current Medicare plan up to date can be kind of daunting, it can be kind of confusing, trying to figure out which one might actually be the best for you. But fortunately, there is a super simple way to get the most recent benefits without having to call millions of companies or even spending endless amounts of time scrolling through the internet. So qualified Medicare is a completely free it’s a no obligation helpline to give anyone on Medicare the information they need to take advantage of all these benefits. So if you’re wondering if there are better plans available, or worried that you may not fully understand your current Medicare plan, or you’re just kind of curious as to what other benefits you could get at no extra cost.
